Louisiana Lotto initiated operations in January of 1992, and in 1995 began offering cash payouts instead of 20 year annuities.
To win the jackpot, players must match 6 numbers out of a 40 number guess range. Players can use the Quick Pick option to take advantage of randomly generated numbers. Additionally, players have the option of playing the same numbers for up to 20 draws in advance. Each lotto game costs $1. Players can play up to 5 different sets of numbers on each payslip. Players matching 5 numbers win an average of $2,200, 4 matched numbers average $54 while 3 matches usually garners $3.
